According to the letter obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday and copied the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, NANS stated that Lawal had turned her office to a conduit pipe for alleged corruption and siphoning of public funds.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has written to the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Policy and Coordination, Hajia Habiba Muda Lawal, giving her seven days ultimatum to submit herself for investigation over questionable records at the Ecological Fund Office (EFO).

According to the letter obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday and copied the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, NANS stated that Lawal had turned her office to a conduit pipe for alleged corruption and siphoning of public funds.

NANS said that its attention was drawn to Lawal’s stewardship when she held sway at the Ecological Fund Office (EFO).

The students association noted that it authoritatively gathered that under Lawal, procurement contracts were awarded to companies with direct links to her person in clear contravention of the Public Procurement Act and brazen disregard for due process and desecration of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

NANS said that “Many Nigerians have expressed reservations and allege that the firm is not only traceable to you but you are as well alleged to be a signatory to the firms’ accounts. For example, in one instance, the AH Properties and Construction limited was awarded the contract for the construction of Access Road at Karu IDPs Camp worth over N1.5 billion.

“More disturbing is the fact that this company has been favoured with the award of many contracts worth billions just to serve your appetite for resource aggrandizement yet it did not end here as even when contracts were to be awarded to a different company other than the ones you have direct interest in, they are still forced and coerced to pay a certain percentage of the contract sums, in some instances up to 20% of such contracts approved sum goes to you as a form of kickback.”

The association noted that “Finally, while we have no personal issues to grind with you, we have the trust of Nigerians to hold leaders accountable for protection of the overall interest of the Nation.

“In view of this, we hereby issue you seven days from the date of the receipt of this letter to properly respond to these allegations and clear your name if at all they are not true and consistent with your records in office. In the event that you refuse to respond to our inquiry, we will take our next line of action which shall include written petition accompanied with the evidences available to us to the EFCC and ICPC to jumpstart immediate investigation into your person while we will also agitate to the President to order your sack and order your investigation.”
