Nigeria holds the world record for electing mumu presidents. Shehu Shagari was preferred over Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Handpicked Earnest Shonekan was made interim president while MKO Abiola who won what was adjudged as the freest election in the history of Nigeria was robbed of victory. He was eventually killed in detention. Gani Fawehinmi and Fela Anikulapo were soundly rejected at the polls. Muhammadu Buhari was chosen over Omoyele Sowore in 2019.
The 2023 presidential election is underway. For presidential candidates doing or saying the unintelligent things is no barrier to being elected. Reputation of Nigerian politicians and particularly some of them running for president, is very poor. They are despicable. They are a terrible people. They’re conmen. Leeches. Looters. Swindlers. Grabbers. Thieves. Mad men. They change their minds and reverse it. They promise paradise but deliver hell. They are not fit to lead. For 62 years they promised 2001 million mumus water, electricity, road, jobs, etc. Shameless liars! On Saturday, February 25, 2023, 2001 million Mumus will elect another Mumu as President.
I’m a die-hard separatist. So do millions of Nigerians. We believe Saturday’s election can’t fix Nigeria. Can Saturday’s election end ethnic rivalry and acrimonious rancor? Can the election resolve the fundamental problem of a country of separate, hostile, and unequal peoples? Can the election solve the cultural/religious beliefs and civilization differences of the different ethnicities that make up Nigeria? Can the election end our historical conflicts and crisis? power tussle and domination? centrifugal and centripetal forces? Can Saturday’s election deny or defer or erase these facts?
Like previous elections, Saturday’s election is an illusion, a sham, a tantalizing mirage and unrealistic adventure into a dangerous future. The election is a sideshow, a diversion and a distraction from practical, feasible, sensible, realistic solution to the century old senseless amalgamation of different nations banded together as one country. Saturday’s election is NOT the answer: Dissolution is the solution!
