Gridlock As Vehicles Conveying Election Materials In Cross Rivers Break Down

Some of the trucks conveying election materials for Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections have broken down in Cross Rivers State.

In a video shared by Nigerian journalist, Agba Jalingo, the incident caused a standstill with security personnel diverting traffic along a major highway in Cross Rivers.

The commentator was heard saying, “This is the video of electoral materials that were .carried to be deployed to Northern Cross River. Some trucks broke down so everybody is on standby, Nothing is moving, along Army junction.
"All INEC materials are stucked with people diverting traffic and following one way. The other lane with the broken down trucks conveying INEC materials is blocked.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Wednesday commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials to its local government offices in Cross Rivers.

The deployment was witnessed by the representatives of political parties and security officials.
Before the materials were distributed, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Gabriel Yomere, said “No big man would be allowed to come out on the election day with his orderly.”
