Nigerian Electoral Body, INEC Says 87million Voters Cards Collected Ahead Of General Elections

This was announced by the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on Thursday during a media briefing at the national collation centre in Abuja.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 87,209,007 permanent voter cards (PVC) have been collected nationwide ahead of the Saturday's presidential and National Assembly elections.

This was announced by the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on Thursday during a media briefing at the national collation centre in Abuja.

The general elections will be held in Nigeria on 25 February 2023 to elect the President and Vice President and members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

The commission had initially fixed December 12 to January 22 for the exercise in all the 774 LGAs.
The commission then extended the deadline till January 29 and then again till February 5.
Meanwhile, Yakubu recalled that 72,775,585 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected during the 2019 general elections.
