The tragedy occurred at Kwatre Angulu in Rukubi area of the North Central region of Nigeria.
The families of over 40 people who were killed by military bombing in the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on January 24, 2023 have demanded N500 billion in damages.

This was stated in a statement released by a civil society organisation, Save Nigeria Movement, SNM, addressed to the Nigerian Chief of Air Staff.
The organisation threatened legal action through their lawyer, T.D. Soraka, Esq, if the Air Force fails take the necessary steps to alleviate the suffering of the victims' families following the attack.
In a petition dated February 9, 2023, the lawyer said, "The brief of our client reveals that the Nigerian Air Force on or about the 24th January, 2023 erroneously bombed a civilian settlement in Kwatre Angulu, Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State killing over forty (40) innocent civilians and injured more than a dozen (12) civilians who were not bandits, armed robbers, terrorists nor kidnappers.
"The brief of our client further reveals that that the lives of over forty (40) civilians including children were cut short in such a painful, sad and traumatic manner and over a dozen civilians are presently injured as a result of total gross negligence which results to the breach of the Fundamental Human Rights of citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Nigeria Air Force.
"We hereby demand on behalf of our client the immediate investigation into the air bombing of civilians in Kwatre Angulu, Rukubi, Doma Local Government, Nasarawa State on 24th January, 2023.
"Nigerians should also sign the online petition on change. org calling for the immediate sack of the Chief of Air staff:
"We hereby also demand on behalf of our client the payment of compensation in the sum of Five Hundred Billion Naira (N500, 000, 000, 000) only to the over forty (40) families who lost their lives and the injured families of more than a dozen (12).
"TAKE NOTICE that should you fail or refuse to commence immediate investigation into the air bombing of civilians in Kwatre Angulu, Rukubi, Doma Local Government, Nasarawa State on 24th January, 2023 and pay compensation in the sum of Five Hundred Billion Naira (N500, 000, 000, 000) only to the over forty (40) families who lost their lives and the injured families of more than a dozen (12), we will not hesitate to take legal steps to compel you forthwith."
