32 Survivors Of Lagos Bus-Train Accident Discharged From Teaching Hospital, LASUTH

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who addressed newsmen at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Friday.
 

 

At least 32 people who survived from Thursday's collision of a train and a staff bus in the Ikeja area of Lagos state, have been discharged from the hospital.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who addressed newsmen at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Friday.
According to him, six people had died, while 19 had been discharged from LASUTH, five from the State Accident and Emergency Centre at Old Toll Gate, and eight from Orile-Agege General Hospital.
He also stated that 256 units of voluntary blood were collected from Lagos State residents on Thursday, and that 40 units of blood were transferred for the victims on Friday.
SaharaReporters had reported that the alleged recklessness of the BRT bus driver was the cause of the fatal accident.
Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Acting Zonal Coordinator, South West Zonal Office, (NEMA), had confirmed this to SaharaReporters in a WhatsApp message, claiming that the bus driver ignored a warning signal given by Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) flag officers.
“2 NRC flag Officers was reportedly tried to stop the driver of the bus from crossing but it was said that the driver ignored the directive and drove into the rail,” the message said.
