The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress in Lagos State, Akeem Olayiwola has strongly condemned the alleged attack and suppression of voters in Lagos State.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to declare a winner in the election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor, is set to win the election after winning in 18 out of the 19 local government areas declared. The results from one local government area, Eti Osa is still being awaited.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of Labour Party won in one local government area, Amuwo-Odofin.

Reacting in a statement, Olayiwola said there was violence in numerous polling units across the state.

The statement read, “To clear the air ways on my stand on the outcome of the result declared by the corrupt electoral body INEC With the all the irregularities that happen at the collation centers from Somolu to Kosofe and the reports we get at other collation centers around for APC candidates to be declare the of the most controversial winners at the Lagos gubernatorial and State Assembly elections on March 18th 2023.

“It’s clearly shows we don’t have any thing called a democratic electoral system but a selection system of government across board. From the intimidation of voters, attacks, different patterns to turning down voters with the scare of violence using their all their state machinery like the thugs and rogues in different uniforms shooting over the night to scare other party agents from attending the arithmetics rigging of results across different collation centers in Lagos and treats also coming from traditionalist with the announcement of having ORO festival during elections declare by their Stools in traditional attires OBA’s and BAALE’s just to scare people away from performing their civil Rights as a citizen.

“My message to the mass is that we don’t need to relent but to keep Fighting for good governance through the Process of Revolution because their already planned and designed the election to suite themselves, so we are left with the only option of a Revolution to take back what duly belong to us which is Good Governance. So I don’t want anyone to be discouraged or detracted from the struggle to take back our dear country Nigeria 🇳🇬 from these state actors.

“Thank You all for your support and good will messages.  I sincerely appreciate your willingness to get the desire change to standing upright and your gesture in trusting the process.”
