Gov. Election: Oyo Governor, Makinde Wins 31 Council Areas, Set To Be Declared Winner

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has amassed an unassailable lead in the election which took place on Saturday.

Seyi Makinde is on course to be declared the Oyo State governorship election winner.

 

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has amassed an unassailable lead in the election which took place on Saturday.

 

Makinde is expected to defeat Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord Party to win the election.

 

He secured victory in 31 of the 33 LGAs in the state while the APC won in two local government areas.

 

Makinde polled 563,617 votes while Teslim had 251,230 and Adelabu polled 38,757, TheCable reports.

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to declare him the winner imminently.

 

The returning officer for the governorship election declared a 20-minute break before the declaration of the final result.
