There are concerns that the delay in the collation and announcement of the results from Fufore local government area could trigger violence, as some of the youths have started attacking motorists and smashing windscreens.
There is confusion regarding the election as no convincing explanation has been given for the delay in the release of Fufore results.
Making reference to a leaked audio conversation between the Electoral Officer in Fudore, Hammajam Mohammed and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa, the youths claimed he has been compromised.
Meanwhile, results from 20 local government areas have been collated, giving the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri a slight lead.
However, the results of Fufore local government area are pending.
In the meantime, soldiers, police personnel and Civil Defence officials have been drafted to the collation centre to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order.
The election was keenly contested between the incumbent governor, Fintiri and Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani of the All Progressives Congress.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa, had in leaked audio directed the Electoral Officer in Fufore local government area to rig the election in favour of Binani.
SaharaReporters on Sunday reported that Hudu Yunusa directed an election official, Hammajam Mohammed, to rig the governorship election in favour of Binani, as revealed in the leaked audio.
In the leaked audio obtained by SaharaReporters, Yunusa told Mohammed in Hausa to do everything humanly possible to make Binani win. He told the electoral official that he was instructed by a higher authority to make Binani win.
The audio conversation goes thus: REC; is that our official from Gombi?
Mohammed: No sir, I'm from Fufore, sir.
REC: I've heard what happened, however, do whatever you can to help this woman (Binani), that's why I gave you an extra results sheet. Please, do just anything to make her scale through.
When contacted, Yunusa denied the allegation but attempted to negotiate with SaharaReporters’ correspondent to kill the report.
Meanwhile, collation is due to resume by 12:00 pm today (Monday), according to the REC, Yunusa.
