Ayodele alleged that the action was led by the APC House of Representatives members of the constituency together with some chieftains of the party in the state.

Olapeju Abiodun Ayodele, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Shagamu Constituency 2, Magun, Ogun State, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of bribing some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload fake results to the result viewing portal.

Ayodele alleged that the action was led by the APC House of Representatives members of the constituency together with some chieftains of the party in the state.

INEC had announced Ademola Adeniran of the APC as the winner of the assembly election in the constituency.

Explaining how the manipulation allegedly took place, Ayodele said the APC members bribed and colluded with some INEC officials to upload results from units where the election was cancelled due to disruption by thugs loyal to the party.

“When results were being collated, we had all the results for every ward from our constituency and we were leading with over 280 votes.

“Suddenly, some APC chieftains led by the sitting House of Representatives for the constituency came to INEC office and presented a result to the INEC officials to upload on the server. We heard about it and tried to stop them.

“Unknown to us, they already bought some INEC officials. They gave the fake results to them and those officials uploaded the fake results on the server.

“They uploaded results from polling units where ballot boxes were snatched and results were cancelled. They brought results from there and uploaded them on the INEC result server,” Ayodele said.

The House of Assembly candidate stated that after the alleged manipulation and uploading of fake results, the APC was announced as the winner of the contest with a slim margin of 20 votes.

Ayodele, however, condemned the activities of the APC, describing the result announcement as a stolen mandate and vowed to challenge the election.

“They inputted fake figures to make sure they won the election with 20 votes.

“This is a stolen mandate and we must get it back through the law,” he said.
