The police in Rivers State have said no suspect has been arrested for the killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Director in the Ahoada West Local Government Area of state, Chisom Lennard, 48 hours after he was slain.

Lennard was reportedly abducted on Saturday by gunmen in police uniform while he was casting his vote during the governorship and State Assembly elections at Ibagwa Polling Unit 2, Ward 10 in Ahoada West local council.

It was gathered that he tried to stop the gunmen from snatching election materials when he was kidnapped.

Later, Lennard's body riddled with bullets was found in a pool of blood along Ibueahi-Ubeta Road in the local government area.

On Sunday, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement said the police had launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances that led to the abduction and killing of Lennard.

According to the police spokesperson, the police commissioner in charge of election duties in the state command, Echeng Echeng, had charged operatives to mobilise all their assets to ensure that Lennard's killers were arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the law.
