Some protesters on Monday protested at the Kaduna State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged manipulation of the governorship election results by the Nasir El-Rufai-led state government and the electoral commission.
The protesters gathered in front of the barricade surrounding the INEC headquarters but were prevented coming close to the collation centre.
The protesters fingered the governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai as the mastermind of the alleged manipulation.
So far, results from 23 local government areas have been received at the State Collation Centre with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate winning in 10 Local Government Areas while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate won in 13 LGAs.
Meanwhile, there were over 8,000 votes’ difference between the APC candidate, Uba Sani, and the PDP candidate, Isa Ashiru.
But the PDP had earlier rejected the result of Lere Local Government Area, saying the figures did not tally with the result uploaded on the iRev Portal.
