The party also referred Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, to the National Disciplinary Committee over reported involvement in anti-party activities.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim; Prof. Dennis Ityavyar and Aslam Aliyu.

The party also referred Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, to the National Disciplinary Committee over reported involvement in anti-party activities.

The suspension which was announced on Thursday in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, takes effect from Thursday.

Ologunagba said that the party’s decision was arrived at after an extensive review of the affairs of the party, pursuant to the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

Part of the statement noted that “The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party across the country to remain united and focused at this critical time.”

SaharaReporters had on Wednesday reported that Fayose boasted that anyone planning to reclaim the presidency and unseat the “President-elect” Bola Tinubu was daydreaming.

On March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

However, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party have approached the election tribunal to challenge the victory of the APC candidate.

Speaking on Tuesday in an interview, Fayose, who never supported Atiku, said the 2023 presidential election had “come and gone”, adding that those aggrieved were at liberty to approach the court.

Fayose had said, “I’m not desperate for any appointment. I’m somebody who will not cringe because of a piece of meal.

“I’m contented, but for anybody to say he would unseat Ahmed Bola Tinubu, you are daydreaming, it is a nightmare you are putting yourself through. That election has come and gone.

“In America, the former president is still saying he was rigged. He who comes to equity must have clean hands. Today, in Nigeria, that election has come and gone but you are at liberty to go to court.”
