Nigerian Troops ‘Storm ISWAP Hideout, Kill Commander, 40 Other Terrorists’ In Borno

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad said the deceased terrorists include a commander, Abu Zahra. Some others fled for their lives, the counter-insurgency expert noted.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have stormed the hideout of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 41 terrorists.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad said the deceased terrorists include a commander, Abu Zahra. Some others fled for their lives, the counter-insurgency expert noted.

It was also learnt that the troops eliminated the terrorists in a midnight offensive coordinated by Maj. Gen. Shaibu Waidi, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, in Mukdolo, GUPDILO and Bone villages, located between Dikwa, Ngala and Mafa.

The raid followed recent attacks believed to be by the Islamist sect, during which 36 fishermen were killed in GUPDILO while returning from Mukdolo in the Ngala Local Government Area, which borders Dikwa village on March 10 2023.

The armed terrorists headed by Abu Darda and Abu Muhammed also stormed Mafa town early morning on March 19, a few hours after the elections, but the attack was thwarted by Nigerian troops, resulting in the killing of scores of the terrorists and the recovery of two of their gun trucks.

 

Makama said consequently, upon the major offensive, military equipment including one gun truck, three Dushka, motorcycles and several other weapons were recovered from the busted terrorist base.

The terrorist commander, (Amir Jaysh) Abu Mohammed, in company with a few fighters reportedly fled in disarray due to the superior firepower of the soldiers.
