Gunmen Kill Three Nigerian Corps, NSCDC Officers In Fresh Attacks In Imo State

Some gunmen have reportedly killed three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Imo State, South-East Nigeria.

 

The incident, SaharaReporters gathered, happened at EkeIsu market in Obiangwu Community in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state on Monday morning.

 

The incident which has thrown the community into apprehension appeared as the resumption of new wave of attacks in South East as hoodlums had on Sunday killed two policemen on a stop-and-search duty.

 

A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the NSCDC officers were riding in a vehicle when they were ambushed and killed by their attackers.

 

He added, that sequel to the incident, security operatives had taken over the community.

 

It was gathered that the lifeless bodies of the victims were still at the scene as of the time of filing this report.

 

According to the source, “Three operatives of the NSCDC were killed last night at EkeIsu market in Obiangwu Community in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State. They were ambushed while in their vehicle. Their bodies have not been evacuated as we speak. Soldiers have taken over the community.”

 

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the killing of the three NSCDC personnel.

 

He said that security operatives had moved into the community and normalcy had restored.
