Nigeria's Electoral Commission, INEC, To Hold Supplementary Elections On April 15

The electoral umpire announced that the supplementary elections will now hold on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed April 15 for the conduct of all outstanding governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections.

 

Nigeria's electoral body through its National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, on March 17, 2023, said the commission would announce a date for the supplementary elections.

 

However, arising from a meeting on Monday, the electoral umpire announced that the supplementary elections will now hold on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

 

Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, who disclosed the decision of the commission said, “Arising from its meeting held today, the Independent National Electoral Commission has decided that all outstanding governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections will take place on Saturday 15th April 2023.”

 

He promised to provide a detailed official statement later.
