Cyberstalking: Court Remands Nigerian Doctor In Prison For Allegedly Saying He ‘Stitched Benue PDP Spokesman After Being Sodomized’

Dr. Kadev, in a Facebook post on March 12, 2023, stated that he stitched the lacerated anus of the Benue State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bemgba Iortyom, after he was sodomized in Abuja prison in 2017, as disclosed by David Mzer.

A Benue State Magistrate Court sitting in Makurdi on Tuesday remanded one Dr Kadev Kenneth Kelvin at the federal correctional facility in Makurdi over alleged cyberstalking.

Dr. Kadev, in a Facebook post on March 12, 2023, stated that he stitched the lacerated anus of the Benue State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bemgba Iortyom, after he was sodomized in Abuja prison in 2017, as disclosed by David Mzer.

The first information report from the police reads: "On the 13/03/2023, a criminal petition was received by the Commissioner of Police written by D.K. Iorhemba and Co. as Barrister and Solicitors on behalf of Bemgba Iortyom, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Benue State, stating that one Kadev Kenneth Kelvin, a medical doctor who works at Kadev Health Systems Services of No.9 opposite Holy Covent, Otukpo Road, Makurdi, made damaging comments on him on the 12/03/2023 at about 1300hrs, on Facebook stating that, when Kadev Kenneth Kelvin was chatting with one Gabriel Terungwa Shange, he chatted that, my brother, if Bemgba Iortyom wants to go dirty, just inform me, the day he found out that, I was the medical doctor that stitched his lacerated anus when he was sodomized in Abuja prison in 2017, he blocked me.”

 

During the police investigation, Kelvin was arrested and the statement made on Facebook was screenshot for evidence. He reportedly confessed to committing the said offence.

 

According to the police, the offence contravenes Section 24(1)(a)(b)(i) of the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act, 2015.

 

No plea was taken for want of jurisdiction.

 

The police prosecutor, Inspector S. O. Itodo informed the court that an investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

 

He asked the court for another date to enable the prosecution to prove its case.

 

After listening to Greg Mbasuen, who is the counsel for the complainant in the matter, Bemgba Iortyom and G. I. Tseen Esq, who held the brief of P. T. Anderson Esq, for Dr. Kadev, the Chief Magistrate, N.E. Kakaan remanded the accused person at the federal correctional facility in Makurdi.

He, thereafter, adjourned the matter to May 24, 2023 for further mention.
