SaharaReporters on Monday reported that Okonkwo said that the N25million being charged by the LP as the nomination fee for gubernatorial aspirants was exorbitant and would not stand.

Kenneth Okonkwo, one of the Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Council spokespersons, has lamented that the Labour Party (LP) spent a lot of money to hire a jet for campaigning during the 2023 general elections.

SaharaReporters on Monday reported that Okonkwo said that the N25million being charged by the LP as the nomination fee for gubernatorial aspirants was exorbitant and would not stand.

While buttressing his point, Okonkwo on his Twitter page pointed out that the Labour Party’s constitution frowned at any action that would constitute a hindrance to the participation of any Nigerian in governance at any level.

In another tweet, Okonkwo said that while the party is the Nigerian people’s party, it needs money to run its activities, and therefore asked Nigerians to suggest the appropriate nomination fee for the gubernatorial aspirants.

He said, “The Labour Party is the party of the Nigerian people but we have to be realistic. The party needs money too to run its activities.

“What do you think should be the appropriate nomination fee for the gubernatorial aspirants? I recall how costly our campaign was with our hired jet.”
