This was stated by Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad in a tweet in his official Twitter handle confirming the development after weeks of speculations about the intention of the minister.

Sylva had declared interest in participating in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC primary election will be held in April while the governorship election will hold in November 2023.
He had last year resigned as minister after declaring his intention to contest the Presidential primaries of the APC.
However, he later did not submit the letter despite attending a valedictory session with President Buhari alongside other ministers who contested the primaries.
