The coalition also lambasted those advocating for any temporary arrangement at the end of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.

Pro-democracy group, Coalition for a Better Nigeria, has condemned the calls for an interim national government, while noting that Nigeria must protect a peaceful transition from one democratic government to another.

The coalition also lambasted those advocating for any temporary arrangement at the end of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.

The group said the agitators for the cancellation of the election that produced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as the “President-elect” or those advocating for an interim government were the real enemies of democracy in Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the convener, Awa Bamiji, said the group was out to protect the hard-earned democracy in Nigeria by ensuring smooth transition of power on May 29.

He said the group would continue to rally until a smooth transition of power from a democratically elected president to another was accomplished on May 29.

Bamiji called on the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to tow the path of peace and allow the tribunal to decide their fate.

He said, "This group is saying no to the interim government. This is the constituency that produced the President today and so there is no way we could support cancellation of the February 25 Presidential election or formation of an Interim Government.

"It's no retreat, no surrender until May 29 inauguration becomes a reality. We are better experienced with bitter experience of the June 12 election annulment, exactly 30 years ago coupled with modern technology.

"After going to the Tribunal, they (PDP and Labour Party) both became nuisance and their long enduring civil disobedience has just taken another dimension."
