No fewer than eight people have been confirmed dead in a renewed clash in the Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The incident was confirmed by the police public relations officer in the state, Abdullahi Usman, noting that the recent incident was as a result of a “lingering feud” between the pastoralists and the Kutep tribe.
He explained that the casualty figures might be higher, adding that investigations were still ongoing.
He said; “There was a communal clash between the Kuteps and Fulani. The incident happened last week, and at least eight people were confirmed dead.
“There was another attack which I can’t confirm the casualty figures at the moment because the investigation is still ongoing.
"Normalcy has returned to the area and people have begun returning to their homes," Usman said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Ussa Local Government, Abershi Musa, has resigned from his position.
He accused the state government of failing to take action over the killings of Kutep by suspected Fulani pastoralists in the local community.
