Olasupo's brother, Popoola Abiodun confirmed his abduction to SaharaReporters on the telephone.

Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) officer, identified as Commander Popoola Azeez Olasupo.

SaharaReporters gathered that Olasupo was kidnapped around 6:30 am on Sunday around Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while he and his colleagues were on an official assignment.

Olasupo's brother, Popoola Abiodun confirmed his abduction to SaharaReporters on the telephone.

Abiodun told SaharaReporters that his brother was with another staff member of TRACE on a motorcycle when the gunmen swooped on them along the road. However, while his brother was kidnapped, the colleague who was riding the motorcycle managed to escape.

He said, "The two officials were riding on a motorcycle - Commander Popoola Azeez and his colleague (name withheld) when they were attacked by gunmen.

"He was in the passenger seat while his colleague rode the motorcycle. On attacking them, the colleague escaped while he was captured by the unknown gunmen or kidnappers.

"This happened along Eledumare – Fidiwo axis of Lagos – Ibadan Expressway at about 6:30 am this Sunday."

Abiodun said the kidnappers had yet to contact the family but hoped they would release him unharmed.

"The kidnappers have not contacted us. We have informed the police and security agencies about his abduction," he said.

Meanwhile, efforts made by SaharaReporters to get the reaction of the state police command to the incident were unsuccessful as the Command's spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi did not answer his calls nor reply to a text message sent to him.
