Controversy surrounding the former Lagos State governor seems to be increasing, especially since he was announced the winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as many Nigerians and the international community have faulted the outcome of the election.
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s refusal to comment on the controversy over the president-elect, Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is suspicious.
Controversy surrounding the former Lagos State governor seems to be increasing, especially since he was announced the winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as many Nigerians and the international community have faulted the outcome of the election.
While, Obi and the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are challenging Tinubu’s victory in court, another controversy hit the president-elect after it was revealed that he had dual citizenship from Guinea whereas he submitted to the INEC that he did not have dual citizenship.
The revelation of Tinubu’s Guinea citizenship has since sparked a new phase of controversy and ignited more negative criticism against the president-elect.
However, amid all the controversy over Tinubu’s dual citizenship across Nigeria and beyond the shores of the country with opposition camps insisting that he (Tinubu) should not be sworn in on May 29, Obi has not made either official or unofficial comment on the issue.
Sowore on Monday said that Obi’s silence over the issue was suspicious, questioning if the former Anambra State governor had a skeleton in his cupboard.
“Why didn’t @Peterpbi speak up about Bola Tinubu’s @officialABAT dual citizenship scam from Guinea? Does @Peterobi have corn in his back pockets too? What is going?” he said.
Also speaking on Tinubu’s state of health and absence and silence in the country since he junketed out of the country to Paris, France shortly after he was announced winner of the election, Sowore questioned why the ruling APC was hiding him from Nigerians a few weeks to his inauguration.
Sowore asked, “Where is Tinubu? What’s his health status? Why are they hiding him a few weeks to his “inauguration?”
