Gunmen Kill 366 Southern Kaduna Residents Within 7 Months In 2020 –Amnesty International

An international non-governmental organisation, Amnesty International has said that armed gunmen terrorising Kaduna State killed at least 366 persons in multiple attacks between January and July 2020, a period of seven months.

Amnesty International in a short statement on Wednesday noted that only in July 2020 during 11 coordinated attacks in Chikun, Kaura and Zangon-Kataf local government areas in the Southern part of Kaduna, more than 100 people were killed, while at least 16 people were killed in Kukum-Daji on July 19, 2020.

“In 2020 gunmen killed at least 366 people in the villages of the southern part of Kaduna State in multiple attacks between January and July 2020.

“More than 100 people were killed in July 2020 during 11 coordinated attacks in Chikun, Kaura and Zangon-Kataf local govt. areas. At least 16 people were killed in Kukum-Daji on 19 July 2020, in an attack that lasted for five minutes, when attackers shot sporadically at villagers,” Amnesty International said.

SaharaReporters had reported that Amnesty International earlier said that armed terrorists operating in the state and other parts of Northern Nigeria killed over 100 people in Southern Kaduna between December 2022 and April 2023.

According to the organisation, gunmen killed at least 38 people in Southern Kaduna in December 2022, 25 people in March 2023, while no fewer than 47 people have been killed in April 2023.
