The President was dressed in a ceremonial military uniform and reviewed over 1,000 officers on standby for the parade, Daily Trust reports.
Meanwhile, the event has left many civil servants stranded.
Some civil servants who were on their way to work at the Federal Secretariat in the Central Business District of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja were delayed as major access roads to Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the complex had been blocked.
On Thursday morning, motorists who did not know that the roads had been blocked were asked by security operatives to turn around.
Some workers had no choice but to trek to their respective offices.
