Nigerian “president-elect”, Bola Tinubu, has reportedly accepted an invite by the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike's offer to commission several projects in the state.
The president-elect made this known on his verified Twitter account on Thursday, revealing that he would honour Wike's offer to launch some projects in Rivers State.
The Rivers governor had invited Tinubu in a letter dated April 8 to commission the Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Flyover and the new Magistrate Courts Complex on May 3 and 4.
The Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover, which connects Rumuola Road to Ikwerre Road, is the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike's, 12th flyover erected since 2019.
Wike confirmed the “President-elect’s” visit to Rivers during an inspection tour of the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta overpass and Magistrates Court building in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The governor said, “To God be the glory. We are expecting the President-elect on the 3rd and 4th of next month to commission the 12th flyover and the Magistrates Court building. You can see the Magistrates Court building and how amazing it is. We commend the contractor too who has done this job, and quite on time. I don’t think you can find this anywhere in this part of the country.”
Wike equally mentioned that when Tinubu visited Rivers State to campaign and paid a courtesy call at Government House in Port Harcourt in February 2023 before the general election, he was informed that he would be invited to commission some of his administration's unfinished projects.
