Nigerians in Mortara City of Italy have revolted against the Italian police’s alleged attempt to bury an empty casket in place of a Nigerian student stabbed to death by an Italian citizen.
According to a viral video seen by SaharaReporters, the Nigerian student who was studying and working was reportedly stabbed to death by an Italian man whom the police failed to arrest as they reportedly said that the killer disappeared into exile.
Although the details of how the student was killed were not revealed, a Nigerian who recorded the video said that people in the area including his teacher testified that the deceased was a kind and gentle person.
However, while Nigerians in Mortara City of Italy are still demanding for the arrest of his killer and for justice, the Italian police reportedly decided and insisted on burying an empty casket.
Nigerians including the deceased’s elder brother, teacher and other relatives insisted on seeing the corpse of the deceased as they claimed that the casket which the police wanted to bury did not have the body of the student in it.
Meanwhile, the Italian police have refused to open the casket, insisting that it is against the law of the city.
