Adeyemi was also accused of masterminding the abduction of some student leaders in the state.

Azeez Adeyemi, the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun on Students Affairs, has been invited by the state police command for allegedly assaulting some former student union leaders.

Adeyemi was also accused of masterminding the abduction of some student leaders in the state.

The victims were identified as former leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the state.

The governor’s aide is expected to visit Eleweran Police Headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital for questioning before the close of work on Tuesday or face the risk of being arrested.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesperson confirmed the invitation to SaharaReporters on Tuesday.

He stressed Adeyemi had not been indicted for committing the alleged crimes but invited to clear the allegations against him.

According to Oyeyemi, Adeyemi was being expected at the Eleweran Headquarters of the Nigeria Police before the close of work on Tuesday.

"It's a case of assault reported by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). Some of them alleged that he assaulted them and that is why he was invited.

"If someone reported a case to us, it is our duty to invite the other party to hear from him. That is the purpose of the invitation; for him to come and clear the allegation.

“It is not that he has been indicted already or something like that," Oyeyemi said.

Adeyemi was accused of masterminding an attack on the student leaders and leading some hoodlums to carry out the attack while the victims were having a meeting in the state.

Adeyemi, a former National Public Relations Officer of NANS, was also accused of stabbing some of the student leaders during the attack.

Some vehicles belonging to the former student leaders were reportedly vandalised during the incident.

Some of the victims were identified as Olasunkanmi Falola Ahmed, aka Stainless; Olasunkanmi Adetoye Ijaduoye and Bamgbose Tomiwa, aka Tommy T.
