A coalition of Biafran Nation agitators under the umbrella of Ambassadors for Self-Determination has been granted permission to hold a 'Free Nnamdi Kanu' Campaign rally in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America.

The rally, according to a flyer posted on Twitter by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, special lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will hold on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20045 at 2.00 p.m.

The coalition stated, "Regardless of what you think of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, you will agree that the rule of law has to prevail in any civilized society.

"The world court, the African court and the Nigerian courts, all have ordered his (Kanu) immediate and unconditional release."

Kanu has been held in the Department of State Services (DSS) detention by the Nigerian government since June 2021 after he was arrested in Kenya and renditioned to Nigeria for the continuation of his trial for treasonable felony and terrorism, as filed against him by the government.

He was however discharged and acquitted by the Nigerian Court of Appeal in October 2022. The court also ordered his immediate and unconditional release from detention.

But the Nigerian government rejected the appellate court ruling and appealed the judgment at the Supreme Court while Kanu remains in detention.
