Kawu of Unguwan Tutayera-Amare in the Jada Local Government Area allegedly abducted 6-year-old Aliyu.

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a kidnapper who strangled a 6-year-old boy, Abdulhafiz Buba Aliyu, because his parents could not raise the ransom of N3.5 million he had demanded.

The kidnapper, Abubakar Kawu, 29, would be charged with culpable homicide, according to the police command in Adamawa State.

Kawu of Unguwan Tutayera-Amare in the Jada Local Government Area allegedly abducted 6-year-old Aliyu and strangled him to death.

Kawu, who is a laundry man, reportedly abducted the boy on May 12, 2023, and demanded N3.5 million from his father as ransom.

The boy's father, Muhammed Buba Aliyu, offered N50,000 only. However, he rejected what was offered and strangled the boy in the jungle where they had been for two days.

He has confessed to the crime, the spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said.

Confirming the incident to SaharaReporters on Thursday, Nguroje said, "The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has extended condolences to the family of the slain kid.

"The CP also assures that the command will ensure the prosecution of the suspect upon completion of investigation. He again advised parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their children."
