Again, Gunmen Attack Nigerian Police Division, Kill Three Officers In Ebonyi

It was learnt that the divisional headquarters of the command in the Onicha Local Government was attacked on Wednesday.

Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed three police officers attached to the Oshiri Police Division in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

 

It was learnt that the divisional headquarters of the command in the Onicha Local Government was attacked on Wednesday.

 

This is coming less than 48 hours after a similar incident happened at a police checkpoint, just a few poles away from the State Police Command headquarters in Abakaliki in which a police inspector was killed.

 

 

The police were said have returned fire leading to death of two of the six suspected gunmen, while four reportedly fled the scene of the attack.

 

Confirming the incident was the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Faleye Olayeye while speaking during the parade of two dead bodies suspected to be those of the gunmen, noted that operatives equally recovered arms and weapons from.

 

Some of the items recovered include, one Lexus car ES350, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine with seven rounds of ammunition, one SMG rifle and one SMG magazine with eight rounds of ammunition.

 

 

While he described the latest violent attacks on police personnel in the state by gunmen as unfortunate, he urged the residents not to entertain any fears, but to go about their normal businesses as the police and other security agencies remained committed to their protection.
