Simon Ekpa Calls Nnamdi Kanu’s International Lawyer, Bruce Fein A Scam, Says IPOB Leader Is Happy With ‘Biafran Republic Government In Exile’

The self-proclaimed disciple of detained Indigenous Peoples of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu, Simon Ekpa has denied the statement made by Bruce Fein, the international counsel and spokesman for the IPOB leader that Kanu was against the Biafra Republic Government in Exile.

SaharaReporters had reported that Bruce Fein said the IPOB leader asked him to inform ‘Biafrans’ that he was against the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), led by Ekpa.

Fein said Kanu described the Biafra Republic Government in Exile as “treasonous to his quest for Biafran statehood”.

Reacting to this, Ekpa said Kanu did not contact Bruce Fein, adding that the international counsel was acting of his own volition.

He said, “I have been reliably informed that no one has contacted the frustrated @BruceFeinEsq to issue statement. He is a scam, and must be regarded as one henceforth. He is a big scam and have been busted.

“He has a deal with someone and I have the details and will make it public in due time. I will wait for him to make any tweets on this again, and I will drag the idiot out. Please, disregard the frustrated @BruceFeinEsq. I challenge him to take any legal action if he truly not a scam.”

He also tweeted on Tuesday: “I have just been informed that MNK is pleased and very happy with the achievement of BRGIE so far. However, he still needs medical attention and surgery because of the physical torture by the DSS. He is a leader of over 70 million people, including myself. Nigeria’s terrorist Government has violated all human rights laws in MMK’s case. They continue to deny him access to physicians; they refuse to release even when the court has discharged him”, he wrote.

“Biafra Republic Government In-Exile is registered, approved and legal. Agent of Nigeria, take note! Bruce Fein Esq will remain a loser and a failure!”

Biafra, formally the Republic of Biafra, was a West African secessionist state that declared independence from Nigeria in 1967 and existed from 1967 to 1970. However, the secession proposal failed, and IPOB has since restarted its agitation for a separate state of Biafra, which includes Southeast Nigeria.

Ekpa, who lives in Finland, presented himself as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) in April.

Ekpa urged the global community to recognise the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, which he said was established to undertake the political and administrative governance of the 'Biafra nation' from outside of 'Biafra' territory, in a letter to the United Nations General Assembly dated April 13, 2023, which he personally signed.

He further asked the UN to pressure Nigeria's administration to unconditionally release Nnamdi Kanu and all 'Biafrans' imprisoned in Nigerian dungeons, and to hold a peaceful referendum to allow Biafra to leave Nigeria peacefully and bloodlessly.

According to the letter received by SaharaReporters, Ekpa wrote that the indigenous people of 'Biafra' established the exile government in their drive to leave Nigeria, while enumerating numerous reasons why IPOB wants the Southeast area to leave Nigeria.

According to Ekpa, the Biafra Government in Exile will "undertake diplomatic and foreign relationships, arrangements and agreements, negotiations and pacts with other nations and interest organisations of the world on behalf of Biafra People”.

But on Tuesday, Fein in a tweet said, “MNK (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu) has asked me to communicate to Biafrans his repudiation of the faux Biafra Republic Government in Exile treasonous to his quest for Biafran statehood.

“Stay away. The traitors have ostensibly established a presence in Maryland USA. A steep legal price for perfidy is coming.”

Earlier in May, Ekpa complained to the ECOWAS Court about the 'indefinite' deferral of a lawsuit brought before the regional court by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) seeking a referendum on the Biafra Republic.

This was revealed in a letter signed by Ekpa as the newly proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE).

The letter was dated May 8, 2023, and was addressed to the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice.
