The police chief described such challenges as inadequate funding and logistics but urged the personnel to shun corruption.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 14, Ahmed Abdulrahman, has said that police personnel must be professional despite the challenges confronting the force.

Zone 14 comprises Kaduna and Katsina states in Northwest Nigeria.

The police chief described such challenges as inadequate funding and logistics but urged the personnel to shun corruption.

According to NAN, Abdulrahman stated this during a visit to the Kaduna State Police Command on Thursday.

He said, “Though we need more pay and more logistics in the job, with or without it, we must be professionals as mandated to secure the nation from within, and God will continue to be with us.”

As May 29 inauguration day approaches, the AIG assured that the zone’s various commands were ready to ensure peace.

He said, “Our various commands and operation order, especially that of the Force Headquarters, are well in place. We, at Zone 14, have put in superb measures to ensure a hitch-free transition.”

Abdurrahman assumed duty as the new AIG in April, becoming the fourth person to occupy the position.

Before then, Abdurrahman served in various capacities, including being the police commissioner in Ekiti, Bayelsa, Kaduna and Enugu states and the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters in Abuja.

“Many of these officers really helped me in discharging my duties and recorded many successes while I was the commissioner here,” he said.
