TIB in a statement released by its North Central Zonal Coordinator, Deborah Yusuf, alleged that El-Rufai went on a demolition spree on May 23 and May 26, 2022 in Gbagyi village in Kaduna South, leading to the death of three persons with many feared injured.

A human rights and pro-democracy group, Take It Back Movement (TIB) has demanded the proscription of the outgoing Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, for alleged oppression, suppression and proscription of the Atyap Community Development Association in Southern Kaduna.

TIB in a statement released by its North Central Zonal Coordinator, Deborah Yusuf, alleged that El-Rufai went on a demolition spree on May 23 and May 26, 2022 in Gbagyi village in Kaduna South, leading to the death of three persons with many feared injured.

It noted that after that, El-Rufai arbitrarily proscribed the Atyap Community Development Association as an unlawful society.

Yusuf stated, “Less than 24 hours before the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai steps down from a legacy of terrorism and banditry that plunged the state into gloom and darkness. The Governor of Kaduna State after going on a demolition spree on May 23rd, 2022, and May 26th, 2022 in Gbagyi Village, Kaduna South which led to the death of three persons with many feared injured has yet again deployed his tactics of oppression and suppression to arbitrarily proscribe the Atyap Community Development Association an unlawful society.

“The Take It Back Movement strongly condemns the constant abuse of power by the incumbent Governor who in 2018, issued a gazette mandating a restructuring of southern Kaduna villages and districts, dissolving the Adara Chiefdom. Its people were reapportioned among a newly named ‘Kachia Chiefdom’, and the new ‘Kajuru Emirate’.

“The Kaduna state governor set up a new emirate and autocratically appointed a selected emir in violation of the agreement approved by the state in 2000 and its upgraded status recognized in 2010.

“This pattern has been a trend of El-Rufai throughout his torturous administration of subjugation of the people of Southern Kaduna.

“The Take It Back Movement stands in solidarity with the Southern Kaduna People and the Atyap Community Development Association and demands that the incumbent Governor reverse his recent proscription of the Atyap Community Development Association as an unlawful society.”
