A civil society group under the aegis of the International Solidarity for Peace and Human Rights Initiative (IS4PAHRI) has strongly opposed the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, saying it is a clear indication that Tinubu has come to destroy Nigeria and not rebuild it.

The IS4PAHRI said this on Tuesday in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Osmond Ugwu and Secretary, Dr Jerry Chukwuokolo.

The group said that it “condemns in very strong terms, the removal of subsidy by Bola Ahmed Tinubu”. This action, being the official assignment and offer at this time of harsh economy is a clear indication that Mr Tinubu comes for destruction and not to rebuild the country and her people and as such portends danger for ordinary Nigeria people, especially the working-class people.”

The statement further said, “It is very regrettable that while the people are trying to get up from the deep economic pit where Buhari and his team have pushed them to Tinubu who was a Chieftain of National Democratic Coalition that fought against tyranny is coming up at this point when Nigeria people are gasping and struggling for a breath a fresh air to push the people into a deeper pit where there is no air at all.

“In this circumstance, we are calling on the oppressed people and classes of this country to RISE UP and resist this attempt by Tinubu to implement the harsh policies of the capitalist countries via the World Bank and allied multilateral lateral organisations to subjugate the poor nations of the world, nay Africa.”

The group called on “organised labour via the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as well as Nigerian students, market associations, the faith-based, all CSOs in Nigeria, etc. to rise up and work in solidarity to save Nigeria from Tinubu and APC by embarking on consistent mobilization of their members and direct them to embark non-violent but consistent agitation, picketing, rallies and road protest with procession in all the states until the decision is reversed and proper arrangements put in place for reactivation of all refineries and building of new ones in all the states of the federation”.

“IS4PAHRI hereby assures the working-class people and other traditional allies of her ever-ready support and solidarity towards the liberation of Nigerian people from the trepidation and unjustified hardship they are subjected to by the ruling oppressive regime of APC government,” it added.
