Kaduna-based public speaker Dr. Haruna Goroh has described the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of Nigeria as an illegal event.

Goroh, one of the most passionate supporters of Peter Obi in northern Nigeria, made the remarks during a guest appearance in the online interview programme 90Minutes Africa hosted by Rudolf Okonkwo.

The founder of Greater Love Ministries (GLM) said the inauguration of the former Lagos State governor violated the constitution because he failed to fulfill the requirement of getting 25% of votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the February 25 presidential election.

“According to the constitution, the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall not be governed nor shall any person or group of persons take control of the government of Nigeria or any part thereof except in accordance with the provision of the constitution,” Mr. Goroh said.

He said Bola Tinubu did not meet that requirement to be Nigeria’s president.

He argued that asking opponents to go to court to challenge Tinubu’s declaration while he functions as president is akin to stealing someone else’s property and asking them to go to court while the thief enjoys the stolen property.

He said the demand of the Obidient Movement was for the courts to be allowed to determine the true winner of the election based on the evidence presented before them.

“Inaugurating Tinubu (before the Supreme Court decision on the matter) is like installing a military government but this time in civilian clothes,” he remarked.
