DSS/EFCC Clash: I Won’t Tolerate Security Agencies Working Against One Another, Tinubu Warns Service Chiefs
June 1, 2023

The president said all security agencies must be on the same page and operate with synergy.

President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to work in synergy with each other, warning against “working at cross purposes and colliding with each other”.

Tinubu gave this warning on Thursday during his first meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The president said all security agencies must be on the same page and operate with synergy.

Tinubu said national security has to be coordinated, adding that he will not accept anything contrary to that.

Meanwhile, the president is reportedly meeting with the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila at the Presidential Villa.

According to The PUNCH, the meeting began at a few minutes past 2 pm shortly after the principal officers arrived at the State House.

President Tinubu’s warning comes after the secret police, the Department of State Services laid a siege to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday, preventing workers of the anti-graft agency from gaining access to their office.

Over 500 EFCC officials were locked out from resuming work due to disagreements over the ownership of the office.

However, Tinubu on Tuesday evening ordered the DSS to vacate the office immediately.

He said if there were issues between the “two important agencies of government”, they would be resolved amicably.

SaharaReporters reported on Wednesday that the DSS personnel vacated the office on Tuesday night as directed by the President.
