According to him, this happened under the administration of the former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai.

A former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has narrated how he survived an attempt assassination attempt.

According to him, this happened under the administration of the former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai.

The former Senator disclosed this on Thursday during an interview with journalists in Abuja.

The former lawmaker said no threats or intimidation would stop him from speaking truth to power.

He said his political enemies sponsored an investigation into his academic credentials with a view to prosecuting him and ejecting him from the Senate.

He said, "Gunmen attacked my office and APC (All Progressives Congress) thugs were used to trail me wherever I went.

“I would have been another Dadiyata;this is how The Almighty saved my life under the Government of Mr Elrufai from 2015 to 2023.

“They also ordered the military to arrest one of my aides, Bashir Ahmad in 2017. Bashir was tortured by soldiers to implicate me in a murder case I knew nothing about. The police declined the case when it was evident that it was political."

While commenting on the legacy of his state governor, Sani said Nasir El-Rufai left a legacy of debt and unending terrorist killings and abductions in the state.

Sani described the eight-year tenure of El-Rufai as a waste.

According to him, it was characterised by affliction, pure evil and tyranny.

He also accused the governor of promoting religious fanaticism and bigotry with alleged disdain and degrading treatment meted out to the people of Southern Kaduna.

"El-Rufai supported Amaechi in the primaries and not (Bola) Tinubu. And during the presidential election, El-Rufai only concentrated on his son winning the House of Representatives’ ticket and allowed Tinubu to lose. El-Rufai in Tinubu’s cabinet will be like a snake in the room.”

"El-Rufai’s exit is an affliction gone; Tinubu should be careful not to bring close to him a habitual and career Judas," Sani added.
