A former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo chapter, Afeez Bolaji Repete has expressed concern over the safety and security of the people of Oyo State following the ongoing rift between Governor Seyi Makinde and the sacked Chairman of Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the former youth leader and made available to journalists on Sunday.

Repete condemned the sporadic shootings experienced in some areas within the state, noting that Auxiliary was the outcome of a seed planted by Governor Seyi Makinde five years ago.

According to him, this is because the ex-PMS boss who has been declared wanted by the police was empowered by the governor.

The APC chieftain charged the police to investigate the primary source of arms and ammunition, which were recovered from the Ibadan residence of Auxiliary because Oyo citizens want to know who bought those weapons for them.

“Auxiliary is a political ally of Governor Seyi Makinde. They started their alliance in 2019 and they've always been together for years. We have seen Governor Seyi Makinde and Auxiliary together both in campaigns, rallies, and public functions.

“Governor Makinde should be able to assist the police in the course of the investigation by exposing the sponsor of their nefarious activities. Who bought these guns for them? Has Governor Makinde ever seen Auxiliary and his boys with guns or not? These are questions Governor Makinde should be interested in,” he said.

Repete further stated that Governor Makinde destroyed the working security architecture he inherited from his predecessor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi because of politics and selfish interests.

While commending the police for their quick response which prevented the state from sliding into anarchy, Repete appealed to the Commissioner of Police in the state to beef up security and order a comprehensive investigation to unravel the root cause of this emerging doom.

“We have every reason to be afraid. I believe the number of guns and illegal arms still in circulation is more than 98 percent of what was recovered from Auxiliary’s residence. I appeal to the good people of Oyo to be vigilant and watchful too,” he added
