Gunmen Kidnap Three Family Members In Kogi, Drop Letter To Notify Residents Of Their Return

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have reportedly abducted three family members at the Greenland community behind 500 Housing Estate, Ganaja in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was gathered that the incident happened at about 9pm on Monday when the kidnappers invaded the area, causing residents of the community to scamper for safety as the gunmen took away the victims.

A witness accounts, according to a Punch report, said that the gunmen stormed the community in a Siena bus shooting sporadically as they went for their prime target who is said to be a retired security officer.

The Chairman of the Greenland community, Paul Atabor, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday explained that the incident has been reported to the C Division of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, (DSS) in the state.

Atabor further noted that the community on Wednesday morning received a notice from the suspected kidnappers informing the community that they are coming back to kidnap more people.

The letter from the suspected kidnappers revealed by the community chairman read, ”Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone”.

It was reported that one of the family members of the kidnap victim who preferred hidden identity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter said that the kidnappers have reached out to the family members and are demanding ransom before they could release their victims.

However, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, said that the state police command was yet to be briefed about the incident, but he promised to give an update on the incident after getting more information about it from the Divisional Police Officer, of C Division.
