Dawood family who lost a 48-year-old father, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman, in the submersible implosion in which five titans on an expedition to see Titanic wreckage died, have said that Suleman expressed fear before embarking on the trip.
Suleman reportedly told the family that he was terrified.
Shahzada’s elder sister, Azmeh Dawood, while speaking with BBC News said that Suleman who was on the submersible with his father was hesitant about going on the dive to see the Titanic wreck in the days beforehand.
Azmeh said that Suleman told a relative he felt "terrified" about the trip but wanted to please his father.
She said, “I feel disbelief. It's an unreal situation. I feel like I've been caught in a really bad film, with a countdown, but you didn't know what you're counting down to. I personally have found it kind of difficult to breathe thinking of them."
Dawood family also said that the tragedy brought out the 'best and worst in people' as some people would go out of their way to contribute and support while others would use the moments for personal gains.
A statement by the family quoted by the BBC read, “Our thoughts are with the victims of this tragedy, one which has been followed around the world.
"As with any tragedy of this magnitude, it brings out the best and worst in people.
"Some go out of their way to contribute and support, others use these moments for personal gains. How one behaves in such circumstances reveals more about their own character than anything else.
"The family remains overwhelmed with the love and support that it has received and is grateful to those who showcased the best in humanity.”
