Some Nigerians on social media have rejected a social media platform, named Crowwe, which was founded by a former ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Adama Garba.
The netizens who commented on Twitter while contemplating how safe it would be for Nigerians to abandon Elon Musk’s platform for indigenous ones like Crowwe, claimed that it would be a risky decision because Crowwe’s owner, Adamu is an ardent member of APC and he can easily compromise his platform for olitical interests.
A twitter user, Mo-Mo was the first person to start the conversation when he asked why Nigerians did not support their fellow countryman to promote his own platform.
He said, “Did you support Adamu Garba when he launched his own? Credibility is also key.”
“We didn't because there's no trust in him. He's gonna sell us off to the government & give out our data's without our consent!,” another user @Engr_Stanley_EC replied.
For Chibuzor, what prompted Adamu Garba to create Crowwe was to mock Nigerian youths on how they were fighting Nigerian government and the failed system in the country.
He said, “What Garba created was a mockery of the then situation on ground. You don't ask people to starve and then create an alternative for starving. We have a lot of these similar apps, we should look inward.”
Another user, @VoiceOfNpowerB also said Adamu is not competent to own a social media platform because of his political affiliation.
He said, “Adamu Garba is not a man of integrity. Pōliticians should not be allowed to control any social media. It will be a failure.”
“Everybody know why many (including me) opposed Adamu's app.. u can't be against the people and still want them to support u.. and Adamu's app will be censored,” @_Buike said.
Tina also said, “God forbid I support Adamu, he opened that app to mock endsars protesters.
“Adamu was using his own as a tool for government to infiltrate us. Adamu is more like the corrupt cabal we're using social media to fight. The censorship wey Crowee go get go pass twitter own once they see the much needed numbers,” CM Nkobo said.
