Presidential Poll: Court Adjourns Hearing In Peter Obi’s Petition Over Absence Of INEC’s Witness
July 3, 2023

This comes after the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to open its defence following the absence of three of its witnesses.

The Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja has adjourned the hearing in the petition filed by Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

The hearing was adjourned till Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

This comes after the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to open its defence following the absence of three of its first witnesses.

INEC was scheduled to open its defence today (Monday).

The electoral body through its lawyer Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) said he would rely on the testimonies of three witnesses but that its first witness scheduled to be in court today did not show up due to family issues.

The hearing was moved to 9 am on Tuesday following Mahmoud’s application for an adjournment to enable the first witness to appear in court.

Counsels for the other parties did not object to the adjournment.
