Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has called for forensic Investigation into the alleged forgery of 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination of one Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma.
Mmesoma, who claimed to have scored the highest in the 2023 UTME results with a total aggregate of 362 has been described as fake by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the issuing authorities.
While JAMB has come out to denounce the results, the little girl has insisted that she didn't forge the results as she printed it on the JAMB Portal. She revealed that the results printed from the JAMB Portal corroborated the SMS results JAMB sent to her.
Reacting to the trending accusations, Ezekwesili who took to her twitter handle, to demand for a thorough investigation, adding that listening to Mmesoma in the video, where she narrated her own side of the story, it showed the need for a forensic-investigation to help reveal what really happened.
The former education Minister, said that she had reached out to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, to carry out an independent investigation into the saga.
She wrote, “This saga between Mmesoma Ejikeme and @JAMBHQ requires an Independent Tech investigation to unearth all facts. Listening to her in this video, it is reasonable to request a forensic-investigation to help reveal what really happened. I have reached out to the Registrar of JAMB.
"An Independent investigation would turn this curious episode into a Learning Opportunity for @JAMBHQ and everyone, especially students.
"I frankly see no downsides in asking a team of Independent Technology folks to investigate and publicly share their findings. Let’s do it," she said.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, has denied forging her UTME results.
Mmesoma, who spoke in a trending video posted on various twitter account and other social media platforms, said that she was traumatised by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Media sponsorship against her, that she forged her UTME results.
It had been reported that on Sunday, JAMB claimed in a statement that it would withdraw the result of a certain Ejikeme Mmesoma for manually inflating her result and announcing herself as the top scorer for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The board claimed that Mmesoma used her manually inflated score to attract a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors and was set to be honoured by the Anambra State government before she was exposed.
But reacting to the JAMB's forgery claims, Mmesoma vehemently denied the forgery claim, insisting that she printed the results from the JAMB portal.
