Mmesoma Admits Receiving Text From Exam Body, JAMB Saying She Scored 249 After Initially Claiming 362 Amid Result Controversy
July 5, 2023

Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State, who was accused of inflating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, has admitted she received a text message from Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), telling her she scored 249.

Mmesoma made this admission when she was interviewed via phone on Channel Television’s morning show, Sunrise Daily.

SaharaReproters had reported that JAMB on Tuesday released more evidence to prove its allegations of forgery against Mmesoma.

The board released a result slip which it confirmed as Mmesoma’s authentic result, which shows that she scored 249 in the examination.

Mmesoma had been paraded as the top scorer of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and was set to receive a scholarship worth N3 million from Innoson Motors before JAMB came out with the damning revelation.

However, the documents released by JAMB show that Mmesoma scored 249 as against the 362 that she had been parading, which would have been the best result in the country.

When she was asked by Channel TV if truly, she sent a text message to JAMB as claimed, she said, “That’s the only SMS I sent there. They didn’t reply. If they check their JAMB Support System, they would see that I sent a text message. They didn’t reply.”

Mmesoma responded to the claim that she used an Airtel line by saying: “Yes,” but she added that it was “not through USSD code.”

“The one I checked through the USSD code is the one of 360 that I saw,” she added.

She later agreed that she saw a message from JAMB showing her UTME result was 249. She said, “Yes, after all was said and done, I now saw that I got 249. I sent them a text message there to know what really happened — the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.”

On Tuesday, JAMB announced that it had barred Mmesoma from sitting the examination for three years over alleged forgery of her UTME result.
