SaharaReporters had reported that an acclaimed disciple of the IPOB leader, Simon Ekpa declared a one week sit-at-home in the South-East but the Enugu State Government already banned sit-at-home in the state and threatened to close businesses and schools that observed the illegal sit-at-home indefinitely.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, has vowed to fish out creators and peddlers of misleading information that caused anxiety in the state over the illegal sit-at-home imposed by some pro-Biafra groups in the South-East to protest against continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

SaharaReporters also reported on Wednesday that there was commotion in the State capital, as people scampered to safety on the rumours that sit-at-home enforcers were shooting in several places.

Reacting to the incident, the state police commissioner reiterated that the police would not be deterred by the panic-causing and disinformation schemes of subversive criminal elements.

The Commissioner in a statement issued through the Command's spokesman DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Wednesday night, said “The CP has reassured the good people of the state of the unwavering commitment of the police and other security forces to, in line with the state government's prohibition of the order, ensure the daily security and safety of citizens against the unconscionable activities of the criminals.”

He, however, wondered why the unscrupulous elements would raise such senseless false alarm with the accompanying fake news, which was circulated to create panic and chaos for the same people they claim to be agitating for.

"He vows that the police shall fish out and bring to book the creators and peddlers of the malicious and misleading information," the statement partly read.

The Command's Spokesperson, noted that the Commissioner has urged citizens of the State to be mindful of and disregard such malevolent schemes of the miscreants, which have over time become their stock-in-trade.

He enjoins them to, as always, remain vigilant and law-abiding, as they go about their lawful businesses, while reporting the subversive criminal elements and their activities to the nearest Police Station.
