AAC accused the PDP of maintaining a tradition of conducting selective processes instead of true democratic elections.
The African Action Congress (AAC) had declared its readiness to contest and secure seats in the upcoming local government elections in Oyo State, while accusing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of deception and selective processes.
The AAC also raised concerns over the recently released local government elections timetable by the PDP government in the state, saying it was aimed at generating false belief and trust among the electorate.
In a press statement issued by the AAC state chairman, Kayode Babayomi, the party called on the PDP to cease deceiving the residents of Oyo State regarding the upcoming local government elections.

"We are aware that it will be a selection, as usual. We all know this, and they should stop fooling innocent people in the state, pretending to be ready to participate and engage with other political parties in a free and fair election," the statement read.
The AAC declared its preparedness to contest and emerge victorious once again in the forthcoming local government elections.
It expressed its determination to secure seats from the ruling party, while noting that the current councillors and chairmen are puppets of Governor Seyi Makinde, and failed to address critical issues such as the lack of water and proper roads in the grassroots communities.
The AAC further alleged that the officials exist solely to obey the directives of Governor Makinde.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots democracy, the AAC emphasised that the voice of the people must be heard and respected.
It condemned the prevalence of selection processes in recent years and urged Governor Makinde and the PDP to participate in a free and fair election, allowing the grassroots people to exercise their right to choose their representatives.
"The local government is the closest entity to its people, and the voice of the people must be heard, rather than a mere selection," stated the AAC.
The party called for an end to the customary kangaroo selection practices as the election approaches. In conclusion, the AAC expressed confidence in their candidates' competence, integrity, and character, stressing that these qualities are crucial for delivering good governance.
