The police in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria on Wednesday rescued a yet-to-identified day-old female baby left abandoned in a sewage tank.

The police added that the rescued baby had been attended to medically and was doing well.
“A day-old female baby was found in a sewage tank at about 8:30 am today. Officers of Gowon Estate Division, upon being alerted, promptly arrived at the scene.
“The baby was taken for immediate medical attention at a health centre and is doing well,” the police wrote.
In a similar development, the command rescued a baby abandoned under a parked bus somewhere in the Mile 12/ Ketu area in June.
The baby was rescued after a resident who was on his way to work heard its cry.
After being notified, police officers from Ketu Division took the infant into their custody and later confirmed that she was healthy.
The command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin also informed the public that an investigation was underway to identify the perpetrator of the terrible crime.
