The petitioner is challenging the authenticity of Ahmed’s primary school testimony on the ground that the then headteacher whose signature appears on it has denied issuing the testimonial to the respondent.

The Court of  Appeal sitting in Kaduna State has allowed the calling of new witnesses and tendering of additional documents in an election petition filed by Sani Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress against the declaration of Ahmed Chindo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the House of Representatives member elected to represent Katsina State Central.

The petitioner is challenging the authenticity of Ahmed’s primary school testimony on the ground that the then headteacher whose signature appears on it has denied issuing the testimonial to the respondent.

The petitioner is therefore asking the court to nullify Ahmed’s victory and declare him (Aliyu) the authentic winner of the election.

SaharaReporters learned that the appellate court on Thursday while ruling on an interlocutory application filed by Chindo’s counsel, Samuel Ihensekhien, allowed the calling of witnesses and tendering of additional documentary evidence in the case.
