But the state government has said the 103 casualties of #EndSARS that it plans to conduct a mass burial for are not victims of the Lekki toll gate shooting.

A former federal lawmaker and social critic, Senator Shehu Sani, has described the planned mass burial for 103 #EndSARS victims in Lagos as one of the hidden atrocities of the Muhammadu Buhari era.

SaharaReporters had reported that a letter from the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency confirmed a move by the state government to carry out a mass burial for 103 victims of #EndSARS close to three years after their deaths.

But the state government has said the 103 casualties of #EndSARS that it plans to conduct a mass burial for are not victims of the Lekki toll gate shooting.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Olusegun Ogboye, the casualties are from across the state.

The letter dated July 19, 2023, and titled ‘Letter Of No Objection. Mass Burial For The 103. The Year 2020 EndSARS Victims’ was addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and signed by the Director General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Onafowote Fatai Idowu.

Senator Sani in a post on his Twitter handle on Monday asserted that the spirits of those murdered whether for ‘blocking’ the road in Zaria or ‘blocking’ the Lekki toll gate will continue to haunt this country and hang over its skies until justice is done.

He wrote; "In 2015, over a thousand members of the Islamic Movement were massacred in Zaria on the orders of the then military COAS and publicly supported by the then Governor of Kaduna State.

"The general public were encouraged through hateful propaganda to march and dance on the corpses of the victims and search for anything valuable in their pockets.

"The bullet riddled and charred remains of the victims including women and children were reportedly buried in mass graves in Kaduna state. Their offence was simply that they ‘blocked the road against the Army chief."

"The killing of the 103 EndSARS protesters in Lagos is one of the hidden atrocities of the Buhari era. The spirits of those murdered whether for ‘blocking’ the road in Zaria or ‘blocking’ the Lekki gate will continue to haunt this country and hang over its skies until justice is done," the statement added.
